1. Engine Speed Sensor
The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.
The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.
If this sensor fails, the ECU will display the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. However the code will not appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing can be a bit difficult as there are two different pins for the connector and they perform different functions however the best method to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. Check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this component.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, i experienced massive power loss as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing any more. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were drenched with gazoline the 4th one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The 4th one remains closed. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not certain what to do, i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. Alternately, the GM version of this part is also a great option.
